General Information


  • Location: The Kyrgyz Republic is located on 199 thousand square kilometers in Central Asia and its capital is Bishkek. It is a mountainous country, as the mountains cover more than 94.2% of the country. The Kyrgyz Republic is bounded from the north with Kazakhstan, south-west with Uzbekistan, south with Tajikistan and east and south-east with China.

  • Kyrgyzstan is divided into seven provinces: 1. Osh 2. Jalalabad 3. Chui 4. Issyk Cole 5.Naryn 6. Talas 7. Batken.

  • The population of the Kyrgyzstan: is 6 million and it hosts about 90 ethnicity. The Kyrgyz is 72%, Uzbeks is 15%, Russians is 9%, and 4% other ethnicities.

  • Community: The Kyrgyz Community is characterized as being hospitable and open-minded as the rest of other nomadic peoples. As per the religious distribution 80% of the population is Muslims (of Hanafi school), 16% is Christians (mostly Orthodox Rus) and 4% other religions and sects. The population's literacy rate is 98.7%.

  • Language: Kyrgyz is the state language. Russian is also the official language which is most widely used in the cultural, economic and commercial sectors.

  • Culture and Heritage: Kyrgyz Culture and heritage are rich with oral poetry, handicrafts, national costumes, musical instruments, Bedouin tents and popular games. Manas is considered one of the most famous Kyrgyz epics as it is the longest poetic epic worldwide.

  • The Ruling System in Kyrgyzstan: According to the country's constitution, which was opted on 27 June 2010, the Kyrgyz Republic is a Parliamentary Republic, to be the only Parliamentary Republic in Central Asia.
    • The President is elected by direct voting. His regime extends to unrenewable six years. The current President of the Kyrgyz Republic is the President / Almazbek Atambayev, who was elected on 30th October 2011 and officially took up his duties on 1st December 2011.
    • The Prime Minister is appointed by the parliament pursuant to a proposal submitted by the parliamentary bloc (or the majority coalition), who owns the majority of parliamentary seats. The current Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic is Sorunbay Jainbeckov, he took the office on 13th April 2016.
    • The Supreme Council, "Parliament" is the authority that takes the important decisions and determines the State policy. It consists of a single board make up of 120 representatives elected for a term of five years, according to party lists. The last parliamentary elections were held in October 2015.
